Purity over Lust

By the time we reach our teenage years, God made us to be full-blooded, hormone raging teenagers. The urge to become sexually active is very strong. In today’s modern world, people look at you strangely if you are not having sex by 17, rather than the other way. How crazy have things become? The truth is that things are not that different to when the world started. Remember in the first few chapters of Genesis, God destroyed the world by flood. Why? It is because people were out of control sexually, morally and in every way. Things do not change even though the times change.

The question therefore is should Christians behave differently, or are we just like all the rest? Remember that God said we are in the world but we are not of the world. We are living here but we are supposed to be different. Actually the people in the world know that better than Christians do themselves. People out there expect Christians to behave and be holy. One of the reasons the Christians get such a bad rap is because we are not different enough. Too many Christian teenagers are just like all the rest – they fit in and behave the same. Let me tell you that it bitterly disappoints God.

Passion Network is supposed to be about encouraging one another daily, so what’s the deal? Why put us all into guilt mode? I hope I am not putting anyone into guilt mode. Actually we are all responsible for our own actions. I don’t think I have condemned anyone so far, but I am pointing out some hard truths.

There is something very beautiful about a girl or boy who has decided to keep themselves pure for the day of their wedding. It is truly so rare these days. If you are one of those, you are a gem. It brings great glory to God. Do not receive the bad press that others will give you or the name calling. Your first allegiance is to God, then to yourself and then to your friends. Stay pure!

We would love to hear what you have to say
