We have just all enjoyed the Easter holidays all around the world, where the Church celebrates the death and resurrection of Jesus. In the past couple of weeks I have written some posts about what it would mean if Jesus never died and if Jesus never rose again. The whole point of Christianity is that we serve a God who is alive. Have you read the post from two days ago? http://passionnetwork.co.za/blog/?p=1179
The bible teaches that when we die, it is not the end, it is just the beginning. Christians have no fear of what happens after death. Many Christians still fear the dying part but we need never fear being apart from God. This is how the bible says Jesus will come again. Remember that when Jesus left the world, he promised to return. The last verses of the bible speak about Jesus coming again. We are told that when nobody expects it, Jesus will come back to the earth. The way it will happen is that there will be a shout and there will be a massive chorus of angels in the sky, sounding trumpets. Then the dead will come out of their graves and those who are still alive, who know the Lord as their saviour, will rise and will meet them all in the clouds.
So literally when the bible says the dead in Christ will rise, it means they will come out of their graves to meet Jesus in the air. We will then be given new bodies, that are heavenly bodies that can transcend time and space. We will then be with the Lord forever.
The event is normally known as the second coming. Or some people call it the second coming of Christ. Jesus said he will come again for us, and that he has gone to prepare a place for us in heaven. The bible says on that day, two people will be working side by side and one will be taken and the other left behind. There will be two people working in a field and one will be taken and the other will be left behind. The thing that ensures you will be the one that goes with Jesus, is that you must be born again. Jesus said we have to be born again in order to enter the kingdom of heaven. We need to be ready for when Jesus comes again. No-one knows that day, only the Father in heaven knows. So we need to be ready. I am, are you?
I have recently written a book which is in publication at the moment and I believe that many of these things will be explained really easily.
