Having been away for five or six weeks, I have had time to reflect on where to go next with this blog. As always, I write from what is going in in my life and heart at the time, and right now I am grappling with church issues. So it seems appropriate that I now spend a few weeks writing about church issues.
Here are some of the topics that I would like to cover in this series:
- Volunteering in the church
- Regular church attendance
- Church leadership
- Why are many church people so false?
- Small groups
- Music in church
- Keeping church relevant
- The modern church
- Jesus in the church
- Church discipline
- Loving one another in the church
- Building teams
- Dealing with issues
- Church for young people
- Managing difficult people in church
People sometimes say I love Jesus but I hate the church. This really worries me and annoys me. It jars and should not be the case. In fact that sentence is like a clanging symbol – it hurts and clashes with my head.
Jesus loves the Church. The church is His bride. If you and I love Jesus how can we not love the thing that he loves? People say the problem with church is the people that are in the church. But even that is problematic because the people in the church are our brothers and sisters. These are family members and we should love them dearly and passionately. So why is there such a disconnect between what should happen and what does happen?
I hope you will join me and follow for this series, and as always I appreciate your comments and feedback.
