How to walk in the blessing of God

So welcome to our first post for daily reading. Every day we will post something for you to read, to start your day with the Lord.

Walking in God’s blessing is not a hard-to-find-secret! In fact it is easily discovered – in the same place to discover all things about God, in the Bible.  Psalm 1 is a goo place to start. This is what it says:

1 Blessed is the man
who walks not in the counsel of the wicked,
nor stands in the way of sinners,
nor sits in the seat of scoffers;
2 but his delight is in the law of the Lord,
and on his law he meditates day and night

What NOT to do

The first tip that God gives us through the Psalmist is this: Do not hang around with people who are going to pull you down. Do not hang with people who suggest doing wrong, and who lack integrity. If you ignore this advice from God, then you may find your life gets caught up in the cross-fire of evil. You yourself may not do anything wrong, but by associating with the wrong friends, your life will be pulled away from God. It is usually subtle and slow, but it will happen.

And the Psalm goes on to say, that whether you walk (actively go around with), or stand (support) or just sit with (be in their company), then this will rob you of blessing. God says “don’t do it”!

So that’s the bit about what not to do. And by the way, we are not told not to mix with these people, because we need to draw them by our testimony and witness to Jesus.

What TO do

So the second step is this, and this is the bit that tells us what we can do to be immensely blessed:

  • Read the Bible!
  • A lot

And delight in God. Delighting in God is an action, not just a vague feeling. Take delight, and express your joy to the Lord. The more you do that, the more God’s blessings will overtake you.

Have a great day!

We would love to hear what you have to say
