The Message Bible says the following:
Proverbs 1: 1-6 These are the wise sayings of Solomon,
David’s son, Israel’s king—
Written down so we’ll know how to live well and right,
to understand what life means and where it’s going;
A manual for living,
for learning what’s right and just
Occasionally I love to read stuff in the Message. It just puts things a little differently and in language that is really simple to grasp. it is not a version for serious Bible study, but it was never intended to be. But there Solomon’s proverbs (which is what the book of Proverbs is) are collected together and added to the Bible so that we have a manual for living.
Many parents say when their are growing up, that you have a manual for many things in life but thee is no manual telling you how to bring up children. The truth is that when our children come along, we really are completely unprepared for them and we have no idea what to do (except for the very rare exceptions). But the Bible actually contains so much wisdom for every situation, including raising children, but we are usually ignorant of what it teaches.
My greatest mission in life is to get people to see the value of the Bible. It has always been a passion of mine, because the Bible contains the words of life. Jesus Himself is in fact the Living Word. Proverbs is full of awesome teachings and if you just search Proverbs for a specific topic you are likely to find numerous verses that will teach you God’s ways of how to live and how to do things right.
If you are someone who really struggles to read the Bible, then go to the Biblegateway.com and use the message version and read a few verses of proverbs each day. You will find such amazing wisdom it will change your life. Finding wisdom is one thing, but of course applying it is quite another. When you come across something that really catches your eye, then write it down and stop reading further. Just think about it and meditate on it and allow it to really sink in. Then think about your life and where you can apply this knowledge and wisdom. if you are not sure, pray and ask God to open your eyes to His ways.
I would love your comments if you read this blog and try this out, then please come back and let me and everyone else know what God has taught you.
