We all get stuck from time to time. We can get stuck in a rut – in a relationship, hoping things will change but deep down we know they won’t. We can get stuck in a job, waiting for a break, or waiting for our boss to change, but deep down we know we should be moving on. We can get stuck in a church, waiting for a breakthrough, which never seems to come.
Now in all of the above, there are times to hang in and wait. But there sometimes comes a time to move on. How do we know when the time is right to move on? Simple! When God tells you to move. Until then, you may have to prove your patience, or you may be building character, but when God says move, make sure you move.
Deuteronomy 1 v 6 The Lord our God said to us at Horeb, “You have stayed long enough at this mountain
Sometimes, we just get stuck in one place. God requires of us to listen (see yesterday’s post) and when we listen to Him, He will instruct us about timing. When we have been in a place for long enough, God will move us on. There are lessons to be learned by patiently waiting for change, or waiting for a promise. There are times to give love patiently, and to trust God to bring about that which we pray for. But when God says it is time for us to move, make sure you don’t stay put. When God says He wants you to move, it is always because the time is right for blessing and favour. If you read a little further in Deuteronomy 1, the Bible says:
See, I have given you this land.Go in and take possession of the land the Lord swore he would give to your fathers—to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob—and to their descendants after them.”
As you can see, God was moving His people out of the wilderness into the promised land. Sometimes we get stuck in the wilderness because we are reaping the consequences for bad decisions, or for sin, or for disobedience to God, or for grumbling. But God does not plan for you to be stuck indefinitely. When you have learned the lesson, God wants to move you forward into His promised land for your life.
Ask God to show you clearly when it is time to move. God bless.
